Explore the world of manga and comic book artists as we dive deep into the medium of pen and ink. Learn what a simple pen is capable of! Instructor Frank Yang Jr. will guide you through the basics of creating engaging artwork using pencil, pen and ink in this drawing class. Please bring your own preferred sketchbook and/or paper to draw on. All other supplies will be provided. You will learn the fundamentals of working with pen and ink media in this two-session workkshop. Sessions are 2 hours each. *** Class Description: Pen and Ink Drawing Foundations Workshop Work on developing skills that will apply to all types of drawing, and hone them with pen and ink techniques that will create strong, graphic effects. Intended for artists of all ages and skill levels, everyone will be able to pick up tips to help improve their drawing capabilities. Class Highlights: Day 1 (12/8): Learn how to see like an artist, and break objects down into simple 2D and 3D shapes to make drawing easier and faster. Build confidence in your foundational skills, and use it as a launch pad for explosive growth! Day 2 (12/15): Building on our foundation of vision and planning, apply technique to fully render out finished pen and ink drawings. Become proficient at light and shadow, tone building, and edge manipulation to make your drawings pop! Talk and draw with the artist, and get feedback on how to improve your skills with pencil, pen, and ink. Materials Needed: The class will provide all materials necessary. However, if you have a sketchbook or pens you would like to use during the class, you are welcome to bring them. No previous drawing experience needed!
